Celine Dion Show Must Go On

Celine Dion: The Show Must Go On

The show does go on. Céline Dion has resumed her residency show at Caesars Palace with performance dates through until June 4th. She started the week with a 15 hour day of interviews to promote her upcoming tour in Quebec, France and Belgium. This was also the first time she has spoken about the passing of her husband René Angélil.

Yesterday fans were surprised with the unexpected release of a new single, "The Show Must Go On". The song originally recorded by Queen in 1990, was written about the band's lead singer Freddie Mercury, who at the time was dying from HIV/AIDS. Céline's version recording is available for purchase from iTunes, Amazon Digital Music and pretty much everywhere else. For the highest downloadable bit-rate at 320kbps head over to Google Music.

The lyrics of the song are similar to how I imagine Céline may feel about returning to show business after such a deep loss "Inside my heart is breaking, My make-up may be flaking, But my smile still stays on". Her voice has a different tonality, in some ways sounding more edgy and raw, also more delicate, but still as beautiful as always. I do wonder what role René had in the choosing of this song, if any.

I'm no music professional, but I have years of experience listing to Céline, an expert fan if you will! ;) I love the arrangement, the scratchy sound of the guitars compliment the soft orchestral backing. The lead violin accompaniment from Lindsey Stirling adds an extra layer of class to the recording.

Céline will perform her new single "The Show Must Go On" together with Lindsey at the Billboard Music Awards, where she will also be honoured with the Icon Award. The Billboard Music Awards air live Sunday, May 22 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC and CTV.

What do you think of Céline's new single?

Las Vegas Hotel Resort Fees 2016

Fees. Nobody likes to hear the "F" word. Did you think you'd found an amazing room rate? Then you scroll down the web page only to see resort fees and taxes to be added to the total? At this point you probably thought of another "F" word. Las Vegas hotel resort fees have now become common place.

What are "Resort Fees"?

The resort fee is mandatory charge per room per night for access to additional services whether or not you choose to use them. For the most part the resort fee will get you free wifi, local calls and fitness center access.

How will I know if I have to pay?

Hotels and resorts are making an "effort" to be more clear about room rates, but you may have to wait until the end of the booking process to see if there are any additional charges and taxes. You can expect to pay roughly $20-$30 extra per night for something center Strip. Travel agents and tour operators may not necessarily pass this information on. If you're in doubt, check directly with the resort.

Which hotels don't charge resort fees?

Some people argue that the above charges and fees will slowly push visitors off Strip. MGM Resorts recently announced that they would start charging for parking and this in conjunction with the announcement that Caesars Entertainment will increase resort fees means it's time to get clued up. My advice, do your homework and make sure you start using your casino loyalty cards (similar to collecting air miles) and you could get your fees waived!

Twisted Vegas - Celine / Costic

New show "Twisted Vegas" with homage to Celine Dion

Twisted Vegas - Celine / Costic

Twisted Vegas is a new all-in-one-show at Westgate. The show pokes gentle fun at other Las Vegas shows, has acrobatic performances, and even includes a Celine Dion drag act. According to Las Vegas Revous Journal, Twisted Vegas, is "At its best when it attempts freewheeling comedy: a mini-Criss Angel (the single-named Dimos) or Costic (also single-named) with his impressive, non lip-synced drag version of Celine Dion."

So now you know, if Celine Dion isn't performing when you're in town, you can still get your Celine fix over at Westgate. See the full article and review of the show at Las Vegas Review Journal.

UPDATED 8th May 2016:

Show currently closed and may be back in the fall 2016.

Colosseum Seating Chart

Celine Dion presales for shows in 2016

Colosseum Seating ChartCeline Dion’s fan club “Team Celine” just announced presales for new Las Vegas show dates later this year. Did that make your heart pound a little faster? Did you panic and start the immediate search for further information and your wallet? That’s usually my reaction, but don’t worry we have some time to formulate a plan to get the best seats.

There are a few options available at this stage, Team Celine membership (which is free) will get you a passcode to gain access to presales right now and/or fan club seats at any time, providing seats are still available. I know, you want to be close to Celine, right? We all want to be sat on the front row but getting those seats is not so easy.

I had a look through most of the dates from September through November 2016, but the best I could find for Price Level 1 in the TC section is in Orch 4 row EE. The Amex presale will get you the row behind. Price Level 2 has seats from around row KK onwards. If you can get an aisle seat in Orch 3 you might even be one of the lucky ones to get a selfie with Celine during the show when she walks through the audience.

There is also an AXS presale which goes live today! This is the one I’m going to try for, last year I was able to get really good seats in Orch 2. Set your “Celine Alarm” as I call it, which is today, 25th February 2016 – 10am PST.

Your password is: AXSCELINE16

The next time to panic and try again is when the public sale starts on Saturday, 27th February 2016 at 10am.

Of course, there are always Ticket Brokers where you can usually buy seats right at the front and also purchase tickets to sold out shows.

Let me know how you get on and please share your tips and experiences.

Good luck!
