Fees. Nobody likes to hear the “F” word. Did you think you’d found an amazing room rate? Then you scroll down the web page only to see resort fees and taxes to be added to the total? At this point you probably thought of another “F” word. Las Vegas hotel resort fees have now become common place.
What are “Resort Fees”?
The resort fee is mandatory charge per room per night for access to additional services whether or not you choose to use them. For the most part the resort fee will get you free wifi, local calls and fitness center access.
How will I know if I have to pay?
Hotels and resorts are making an “effort” to be more clear about room rates, but you may have to wait until the end of the booking process to see if there are any additional charges and taxes. You can expect to pay roughly $20-$30 extra per night for something center Strip. Travel agents and tour operators may not necessarily pass this information on. If you’re in doubt, check directly with the resort.

Some people argue that the above charges and fees will slowly push visitors off Strip. MGM Resorts recently announced that they would start charging for parking and this in conjunction with the announcement that Caesars Entertainment will increase resort fees means it’s time to get clued up. My advice, do your homework and make sure you start using your casino loyalty cards (similar to collecting air miles) and you could get your fees waived!
